Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, is set to continue at the helm of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, with confirmation emerging from the club that his contract will run until 2027.
Speculation about the tactician’s future had swirled in recent weeks, but Daniel Ogunmodede appeared to put doubts to rest with a cryptic post on his 𝕏 account, stating: “Trust the process. Big announcement soon,” followed by his signature tag, #IJABALL.
Shortly after, club insider and multimedia journalist Michael Imiavan affirmed on 𝕏 that Ogunmodede would not be leaving. “Daniel Ogunmodede will continue as the club head coach,” Imiavan posted. “It is confirmed. His three-year contract still runs until 2027. All parties are happy with the job he has done so far, culminating in the NPFL title.”
The 45-year-old’s continued leadership comes on the heels of a landmark campaign in which Remo Stars secured their first-ever NPFL crown in April.
The victory marked a historic moment, as the Ikenne-based side became the first club from Nigeria’s South-West to win the league since Julius Berger’s triumph in 2000.
Ogunmodede’s deep-rooted journey with the club began in 2015 when he served as assistant coach and youth team trainer under Nduka Ugbade.
He played an instrumental role in securing the club’s first promotion to the NPFL in 2016 and later spearheaded the development of Remo Stars’ youth structure, which birthed the Beyond Limits Football Academy.
His rise through the ranks culminated in his appointment as head coach in 2020, following a stint in Portugal with CD Feirense.
Since his return in 2022, Ogunmodede has steered Remo Stars to back-to-back runner-up finishes before finally delivering the championship this season. His influence has been credited as a driving force behind the team’s remarkable ascent in Nigerian football.
