The northwest zonal congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was forced to end abruptly on Saturday after thugs invaded the venue and disrupted the event.
It was gathered that ballot boxes were snatched at the event held in Kaduna State while some of the delegates were wounded as supporters clashed.
The venue was thrown into chaos and confusion as supporters of the major contenders for the position of National Vice Chairman for northwest zone clashed.
The contenders include Senator Bello Hayatudeen Gwarzo, Aminu Wali, and a preferred candidate of former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Naija News understands.
However, the voting could not be concluded as thugs disrupted the process shortly before voting commenced.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has commended his wife, Aisha Buhari, for assisting in improving the lives of poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
The Nigerian leader made this known in the foreword of her biography titled, ‘Aisha Buhari: Being different’, which was launched on Thursday at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa.
The President noted that his wife had been able to fulfill her dreams of helping the poor, sick, and underprivileged in the country through her programme, ‘Future Assured’.
He also commended the First Lady for defending the rights of women, children, and vulnerable people in society, adding that her efforts have made the country proud and mde her a worthy partner for him.
