The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, have committed to accelerating over 34 Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries.
The MOUs target areas such as Aviation, Telecommunications, Digital Economy, Renewable Energy, Financial Services and Green Hydrogen.
The Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, who made the disclosure in a short statement via his X account on Tuesday, said the two leaders took the decision at the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission.
He added that both leaders agreed that Nigeria and South Africa must expand investment and trade relations as part of efforts towards moving Africa forward.
“In Cape Town, Presidents Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa commit to accelerating key elements of the Bi-National Commission in the over 34 MOU areas especially Aviation, Telecommunications, Digital Economy, renewable energy, Financial Services and Green Hydrogen. Both leaders agree that Nigeria and South Africa must expand investment and trade relations towards powering Africa forward,” the statement read.
Naija News recalls President Tinubu had earlier arrived in South Africa for the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission meeting.
Earlier on Sunday, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the two leaders will discuss topics bordering on political consultations, consular and migration, banking and finance, defence and security, manufacturing, social sector, mines and energy, and trade and investments between Nigeria and South Africa.
