Lagos State government has described as fake news the report making the rounds that the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was disgraced inside Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Naija News had reported earlier that Governor Sanwo-Olu was reportedly disgraced on Tuesday by some youths as he was entering the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere where the Super Eagles of Nigeria clashed with Lesotho in an African Cup of Nations qualifier game.
In a viral video shared by a Twitter user, @absuxxess, some group of youths were seen chanting derogatory names at the convoy suspected to be Sanwo-Olu’s, a development that was denied by the Lagos State government.
Subsequently, Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor in a post on his Twitter account today, noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu was in the stadium till the very dark hour without any chaos as claimed in the viral video.
The governor’s aide, slammed former presidential aide, Reno Omokri and other persons who promoted the report believing it was Governor Sanwo-Olu.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was in the stadium till very dark yesterday. No incident as being spread by
Reno Omokri and his co-travellers happened during Mr Governor’s departure from the Teslim Balogun stadium. Let’s stamp out #fakenews from our system,” Akosile tweeted.
