Nigeria’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, has confirmed he will not be joining Chelsea in the upcoming January transfer window, reiterating his commitment to Turkish club, Galatasaray, where he remains on loan until the end of the season.
Osimhen’s statement follows intense speculation linking him with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
After scoring his fourth goal for Galatasaray in their 2-1 victory over Besiktas in the Istanbul Derby on Monday, Osimhen responded to questions about his future by saying, “Yes, I am here,” as reported by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
This puts an end to rumours of an early departure, with the striker opting to fulfill his loan from Napoli through the season’s end.
The 25-year-old has been in outstanding form, scoring in three consecutive Turkish Super Lig matches, including a memorable overhead kick against Antalyaspor.
His latest goal, a precise header in the 67th minute, helped Galatasaray secure their six-point lead at the top of the league standings.
While Chelsea remains interested in Osimhen as they search for a high-scoring striker, fans may have to wait until 2025 to see him in a Blues jersey.
Chelsea legends John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba have endorsed Osimhen as an ideal fit for their former club.
For now, Okan Buruk’s Galatasaray side, with Osimhen’s four goals and four assists in six appearances, looks set to capitalize on his talents as they lead the Turkish Super Lig with 28 points from 10 games.
