Unknown gunmen have killed the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Tafa Local Government Area, Niger State, Sule Ishaya.
Information gathered revealed that the gunmen also whisked away from his wife to an unknown destination.
It was reported that the gunmen stormed the house of the PDP chieftain on Sunday night in the New Bwari community of Tafa and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife before shooting him dead.
Family sources that spoke on the incident noted that the gunmen gained access into the house of the deceased using a ladder to scale the fence.
A PDP Chieftain, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident saying, “he was stabbed in the stomach and shot to make sure that he was dead and he would not survive.”
The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, adding that the police are investigating the matter.
In a related development, bandits on Monday invaded Mu’azu Babangida Secondary School in Sarkin Pawa in Munya local government area but did not meet any student in the school.
The state government had shut down the schools to restructure security in the school environment.
Eyewitnesses that spoke on the development, noted that the bandits stormed the school with over 10 pickups but when they did not meet any student, they ended up beating the security guards in the school.
The guards had to be taken to Sarkin Pawa General Hospital for treatment as they were badly injured by the bandits.
