Nigerian lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju has confirmed the arrest of controversial singer, Speed Darlington.
Naija News reports that Darlington who is currently trending on X was declared missing by some netizens.
Some individuals alleged that the media personality has been missing for three days.
Speaking on the development, Adeyanju stated that he is now involved in Speed Darlington’s case and he would do everything possible to ensure that the singer regains his freedom.
In a post shared on his X handle, Adeyanju mentioned that efforts are being made to secure the singer’s release.
He stressed that no one should be arrested by the police for expressing their views.
The lawyer fumed that it was ironical to condemn oppression and yet be an oppressor.
Adeyanju wrote, ‘’You can’t be singing against oppressors and still be an oppressor’
“We are now involved in the Speed Darlington matter. We will do everything to get him freed. Nobody should be arrested by the police for expressing their views or opinions. We urge the authorities to stop the clampdown on freedom of speech in Nigeria
“We have just located Speed Darlington and we are working on getting him freed. The attack of freedom of expression in Nigeria must stop.”
