Wike vs Fubara: Take Action To Prevent Escalation – Natasha Urges Tinubu

Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has asked President Bola Tinubu to immediately intervene in the political crisis rocking Rivers State.

Naija News reports that Natasha in a statement through her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel on Tuesday, urged Tinubu to ensure that the Minister of the Federal Capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike, focuses on his job.

The Senator said the feud between Wike and Rivers State Governor, Siminalaya Fubara was not in the interest of Rivers people, insisting that Tinubu should intervene before the feud degenerated further.

She said Fubara is governing Rivers on the strength of the Constitution, having been elected by Rivers people, and he should be allowed to govern in line with the Constitution.

Natasha added the ongoing crisis has been characterised by violence, intimidation, and threats to the peace and stability of the region.

She stated, “The situation in Rivers demands urgent attention, and I implore Mr President to take decisive action to prevent further escalation.

“We cannot afford to watch as the crisis deepens, threatening the stability of the region. President Tinubu’s leadership is crucial in resolving this impasse.

“If left unchecked, the crisis may undermine Nigeria’s democratic progress, embolden perpetrators of violence and electoral malpractices, and threaten national security and stability.”
