Borno Govt Confirms Sudden Death Of Finance Commissioner, Announce Burial Date

The Borno State government has confirmed the death of the State Commissioner for Finance, Ahmed Ali Ahmed.

The confirmation was made in a statement on Monday in Maiduguri by the Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar.

He said, “Borno state Government wishes to announce the death of Ahmed Ali Ahmed, the State Commissioner of Finance.”

The statement from the Information Commissioner noted that the burial for Ahmed is slated for 5pm on Monday at the family house of the late commissioner in Damboa Road behind Indimi’s residence.

Earlier, Naija News reported the sudden death of the Borno Commissioner for Finance.

Sources familiar with the incident told Daily Trust that the commissioner died inside his room on Monday morning.

The deceased was said to have exceeded the time he usually comes out in the morning.

His door was then forced open, where his corpse was found.

“Oga is no more, he died early this morning,” the source disclosed.

Meanwhile, no fewer than six individuals were reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in a recent attack in Benue State.

Naija News learnt that the murder was carried out in two separate assaults within the Agatu Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that one fatality occurred in the Iwari community, while the remaining five were killed on Friday in Olegagbane.

A resident who wished to remain unnamed stated that the armed assailants targeted the Iwari community yesterday, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

On Friday, August 23, 2024, the gunmen also struck Olegagbane community, killing five individuals,” the individual told Daily Trust.

Confirming the attack, the Chairman of Agatu LGA, Phillip Ebenyakwu, said, “It’s true. Confirmed. These armed invaders kill, steal, loot and then flee. Their motives remain unclear, but they continually return to attack and kill. The situation has become unbearable.”

Ebenyakwu also expressed regret about the challenges in managing displaced persons from the affected communities.
