The two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, who were released on Tuesday have reunited with their family members.
Naija News had earlier reported that the students identified as Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola, studying Forestry and Wildlife Management and Agricultural Economics respectively, were kidnapped on Sunday night in Igbole Aibo Quarters of Ayetoro, in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State.
They, however, regained their freedom on Tuesday night.
The students and their parents were presented to the State government on Wednesday evening at the Governor’s office, Oke – Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Students Union President of OOU, Hamzah Akala, while speaking with newsmen on the security structure of the state said, kidnapping had exposed the security lapses around the institutions in the state.
Akala lamented that “a lot of things have been happening, this has opened everybody’s eyes to what is happening in our community”
“I will advise the government to tighten security in the state.”
In a related development, the Ogun State government on Wednesday denied paying any ransom for the release of the abducted students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
The state commissioner for Information, Alhaji Waheed Odusile made the revelation while addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital.
