Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has applauded the appointment of the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as the new Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
President Bola Tinubu had named Wike as the FCT minister, and he was one of 45 ministerial nominees screened and confirmed by the Senate weeks ago.
Naija News earlier reported that the immediate-past Governor of Rivers State resumed office with the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmud.
The duo, who arrived at FCTA at about 1:20 pm after the swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Villa, was accompanied by a large crowd into the FCTA.
Speaking at a press conference, Wike vowed to return the FCT to its original master plan, adding that land allottees who have been given Certificates of Occupancy but failed to develop would also lose their lands to give way to those ready to build.
Reacting in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday, Ahmad said he is optimistic Abuja will see new changes, growth and development under Wike.
He wrote: “I am optimistic Abuja will see new changes, growth and development under Minister Wike. This City has been sleeping for too long.”
