Nigerian music producer cum politician, Olubankole Wellington popularly called Banky has won the primary election to represent the Eti-Osa constituency in the House of Representatives.
It could be recalled that Banky had in 2019 contested in the National Assembly election to represent Eti-Osa constituency, Lagos at the House of Representatives, but lost to Ibrahim Obanikoro of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Banky W who joined the People’s Democratic Party to contest for the same position, won the primaries with a massive twenty-eight votes.
Banky had stated earlier that he was no longer content to stand by the sidelines, but must get into the system to fix it.
Giving reasons why he joined PDP, Banky W emphasized the need to infiltrate major existing political parties such as the PDP to build a better Nigeria for all citizens.
In his words: “Some may not understand or agree with my decision to run, or my choice of platform. But I’ve learnt that we must engage with Nigeria where it is, not where we hope that it should be.”
