Unknown gunmen responsible for the abduction of the lawmaker representing Aguata II in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye have beheaded him.
A further report had it that the gunmen after beheading the lawmaker decided to display his head at a motor park in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.
Recall that Okoye was kidnapped by gunmen last week in Aguata alongside Cyril Chiegboka, his campaign director.
The state Governor, Charles Soludo in his reaction to the incident had stated that efforts were ongoing to rescue Okoye from the den of his abductors.
The spokesman of the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga on Saturday confirmed the discovery of Okoye’s head.
Ikenga said the lawmaker’s body was not found at the spot where his head was discovered.
He further stated that the state police command is yet to arrest a suspect linked to the incident.
The police spokesman said, “His head was found along Nnobi road on Saturday. There is no suspect in custody yet.”
