Benue Govt Begins Supervision Of Rural Road Projects

Benue State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project-(RAAMP), on Saturday commenced inspection of rural road projects in the state.

Naija News reports that the team visited Oju and Gwer-West local roads site.

Engr. Mone Aernyi, the state Coordinator of RAAMP noted during the tour that, the Governor Samuel Ortom led administration was committed to opening up rural roads to boost the agriculture and revenue strength of the state.

The coordinator disclosed that the aim was to attract local and international investors and ease the means of transporting farm produce to its targeted destination.

While expressing satisfaction with the level of work done so far, the Project Coordinator also disclosed that the state government in her desire to open up rural areas, paid 1.5b for counterpart funding in 2019 for projects but the implementation was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He maintained that the roads were part of the five pilot road projects and that another phase for rural projects would be implemented soon after the completion of the current phase.

“The governor Ortom’s administration is committed to opening up rural areas. The aim is to boost local production and attract development in the state.

“We (RAAMP), are planning to recruit a Community base road maintenance group who will be shown how to maintain rural roads” Engr. Mone stated.

Engr. Fish Oliver of Messars Fish Synergy Resources, told the team that his company has done 40 per cent of the construction and assured that the project will be delivered within record time.
