DSS Arrest Nursing Mother Others Over Kidnapping

A nursing mother who was arrested alongside other criminal suspects has confessed to being in charge of the gangs arsenal.

The suspects were paraded at the DSS headquarters in Akure, Ondo.

Items such as laptops, cash, locally produced guns, and other deadly weapons were recovered from the suspects.

The state’s Director of DSS, Mr Jonathan Kure revealed that the gang specialized in terrorizing the state especially in kidnapping toddlers.

He stated further that the gang’s sixth member had been taken to the hospital due to a gunshot wound.

According to the DSS Director, intelligence reports confirmed that the suspects were the only syndicate that specialized in kidnapping toddlers.

Kure said that the command was carrying out the investigation alongside the Nigerian Army and the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the investigation were done.

Meanwhile, gunmen have invaded a mosque at Soyoye in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State and kidnapped a police officer alongside two others.

The police officer, Inspector Kamarudeen Bello, who doubles as the Imam of the Mosque was kidnapped four days after welcoming a new baby into his family.

A source informed Daily Trust that the abductors contacted the families of the victims to pay a ransom of N5m each. The victims were later released after the ransom was paid. Read more
