Delta state police has arrested a 42-year-old man, Mr. Efe Erinoja for allegedly beating his wife to death.
The suspect had reportedly beaten his wife, Faith Faith Ekpe, 36 to death in their residence at Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government area of Delta state.
The couple were involved in a domestic dispute which consequently led to the suspect murdering his wife around 6:30am
After murdering his wife, Erinoja reportedly fled the scene to avoid a mob attack from residents in the area.
Neighbors stated that they heard a loud scream from the deceased but when they arrived at their home she was already dead.
The fleeing husband was later arrested after the deceased brother, Monday Otobrise Ekpe, made a report at Orerokpe Police Station.
Security sources said: “When the Police detectives arrived the scene, they found the corpse of Faith Ekpe on the ground with signs of violence on her body.
“The Police removed the body and deposited at Ariemughere mortuary, Orerokpe awaiting autopsy. The suspect who initially took to flight was tracked and later arrested.”
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing on the cause of the dispute.
