Nigerian Youths from across the Country has joined forces with the Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Safety and Security Affairs (CONYSSA) to demand the accelerated consideration and passage of the Bill seeking the establishment of the Nigeria National Commision Against the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons.

They described the delay in passage as inconsistent with the nature and good track-records of the 9th National Assrmbly, and avowed to take to a nationwide protest if immediate actions is not taken.

In an interview with the Press, National Coordinaor of CONYSSA, Comr. Ademario Emmanuel said that the Bills is of paramount importance to the Youth and Nigerian People in general, hence, must not be treated with any form of levity or disinterest by the Leadership of the National Assembly.

It will be recalled that this Bill has already passed the Second Reading in the Senate, but has not been treated further since then. The Youths are agitating for the quick passage and signing into law of the Bill, claiming it has the potency of generating mass employment and positively engaging Young People without adding any pressure on the Purse of the Federal Government, instead would rake in reasonable Financial Proceeds to the National Treasury.

In his words “The proposed Commission has been designed to positively and economically engage Hundreds of Thousands of Youths, with very little or no Financial pressure on the national purse, but instead rake in reasonable resources to the National Treasury. Furthermore, the Commission, if established, will serve effectively as a veritable grassroots information gathering Mechanism that would useful for Intelligence Gathering by the Nation’s Security Aparatus”.

The Youth leaders warns that the END SARS National Protest would be a child’s play across the Country, if the rate of influx of Small Arms, Ammunition and Chemical Weapons in Nigeria is not handled proactively and as a Matter of Very Urgent National Importance.

They equally call on President Buhari to throw his heavy Executive weight behind the Bill and Sign it into Law IMMEDIATELY IT hits his Table, as this will make him and all Members of the Ninth National Assembly eternal Heroes of the Nigerian Youth and Citizenry.
