A man identified as Abubakar Mohammed Buba has been arrested by the Niger State Police command for hiring an assassin to kill his 52 year-old father, so as to take over his assets.
The spokesman of the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that Buba of Gidan Madara area of Chanchaga, Minna was apprehended 29 December.
Buba who is in his 20s was arrested by Police operatives attached to Chanchaga Division.
However, the hired assassin is still at large as the police are trying to apprehend him.
Buba is being held for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide of his father, Alhaji Mohammed Buba.
Alhaji Buba was stabbed to death in his residence at Korokpan, Paikoro LGA on 13 October, 2021.
The son during interrogation confessed to have conspired with one Aliyu Mohammed of Chanchaga to kill him.
Buba later led Police operatives to Tagwai-Dam where the body of his dad, Alhaji Buba was dumped after being severed and packed in a sack.
He noted that he paid the hired assassin one hundred and ten thousand Naira.
According to the suspect, he initially paid a deposit of N50,000 and N60,000 after the completion of the killing.
He said he sold his dead father’s property to raise the balance.
Abiodun said the case has been transferred to SCID Minna, adding that Mohammed Buba will be prosecuted immediately after investigation.
