Twitter Bans Sharing of Photos And Videos Of Users Without Permission

Micro blogging site, Twitter has announced on Tuesday a ban on sharing of private photos, videos and other information of users without their permission.

The company stated in a blog post that if a user posts or media is shared without their permission, such posts would be removed.

They also maintained that before users will have the permission to share a post they would have to file a first person report or one from an authorized representative.

However, certain exceptions were made. The ban does not include media of public figures and others if the video and text are shared in the public interest or add value to public discourse.

The blog post read in part: “While our existing policies and Twitter Rules cover explicit instances of abusive behaviour, this update will allow us to take action on media that is shared without any explicit abusive content, provided it’s posted without the consent of the person depicted. This is a part of our ongoing work to align our safety policies with human rights standards, and it will be enforced globally starting today.”

Meanwhile, award-winning Nigerian singer, Wizkid, has been declared the winner of the Artist of the Year for the African region in the Apple Music Awards 2021.

The announcement was made by Apple on its website on Tuesday.

The Apple Music Awards is created to honour musicians under five different categories which are, Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Top Song of the Year, and Top Album of the Year. Read more
