A federal high court in Abuja has fixed January 2022 for the hearing of N4bn suit filed by Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenah against the Department of State Service and the Attorney-General of the federation.
Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed the date so the defendants could reply to the allegations brought against them.
El-Zakzaky and his wife had slammed the defendants with a 2bn naira suit each for seizing their international passport.
The plantiffs were seeking for the court to declare the seizure of their passports as illegal and an infringement of their fundamental human rights.
They also demanded 2bn each as damages for violating their rights to freedom of movement, fair hearing and property and an order which would stop the defendants from violating their human rights any longer.
They also prayed the court to declare the Red Flag Travelling Restrictions placed on their passport as illegal and declare the ban of the defendants restricting them from leaving the country for medical emergency as a threat to their lives.
