Oyo State Police Command has arraigned a man for stealing diapers worth N2.5m and fraud of N765,400.
The accused, Oyenuga Olashile, is standing trial for an eight count charge of stealing and false pretence.
However, Olashile has pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olagunju Opeyemi revealed to the court that the accused carried out the crime at Bayal Shopping Complex, Dugbe area, Ibadan in August, while also revealing that the offense is punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II Laws of Oyo state of Nigeria 2000.
The prosecutor also said that Olashile collected N108,000 from one Olanrewaju Fatimah, N335,400 from one Oke Abiodun, and N322,000 from one Abosede Oyerinde at the Ogunpa market with a false promises of supplying them with diapers.
He said “An offence contrary to section 380 and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo state of Nigeria 2000,”
The chief magistrate, Olaide Hamzat granted the accused a bail of N2m and adjourned the case to December 14.
