Man In Trouble After Killing His Wife Over Jealousy

Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has apprehended a man for allegedly killing his wife over insecurity.

It was revealed in a statement made available to newsmen that Enoch Yohanna, 27, had engaged his wife in an argument after suspecting that she was cheating on him.

Yohanna is said to have sighted his wife, Ruth Amos (28) coming out of a compound at Sabon Kaura area of the state and approached her with questions.

Naija News learnt that after some arguments, the young man out of jealousy pushed the lady and she hit her head on the ground, leading to her death,

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the command, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said Yohanna was arrested after a joint patrol team of police and members of the Peace and Security Committee learnt of the incident at Sabon Kaura.

He revealed that the deceased was found lying in a pool of her blood with wounds on her head and blood gushing from her mouth.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police (SP), explained that Ruth and Yohanna were in a romantic relationship that had produced two children between them.

According to him, investigation revealed that on that fateful day, Yohanna sighted the deceased coming out of a compound and out of jealousy challenged her, which led to an argument between them and in the process he pushed her and she hit her head on the ground.

The police statement read: “On 07/10/2021 at about 0445hrs a joint patrol team in collaboration with the Peace and Security Committee while on visibility patrol sighted a young lady lying in a pool of blood with wounds on her head and blood gushing from her mouth at Sabon Kaura.

“The team evacuated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor certified her dead. During the course of investigation, one Hajara Amos aged 56yrs of Bayara village was identified as the deceased mother and also identified the deceased as Ruth Amos aged 28yrs of the same address.

“Consequently, investigation commenced in earnest where one Enoch Yohanna aged 27yrs of Gwallameji Doka was arrested. On interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to having committed the crime.

“Further investigation revealed that Enoch Yohanna and the deceased (Ruth Amos) were in a romantic relationship and blessed with 2 children, it was further revealed that on the date of the incident Enoch sighted the deceased coming out of a compound out of jealousy, he challenged her which led to an argument between them and in the process he pushed her where she hit her head on the ground.”

Wakil stressed that the suspect would be profiled and charged to court.

The PPRO disclosed that the investigation was ongoing, after which the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
