Ondo state police have apprehended a scavenger who murdered a homeowner for not allowing him to pick iron rods from his compound.
Basiru Ibrahim, the assailant killed the victim, Arise Ikuesan, 45 years old in Ore the headquarters of Odigbo local government area.
The deceased who was a landlord in Odigbo stopped Ibrahim from trying to pick rods from his compound before the assailant consequently slammed an iron rod on his forehead. The crime occurred on September 13, 2021.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odulami, corroborated the incident and maintained that Ikuesan was murdered when he stopped the scavenger from picking scraps from his compound.
“On 13th September, 2021, at about 1600hrs, a report was made at Ore Divisional Headquarters that a scavenger, Basiru Ibrahim ‘m’ 39 years old hit an iron rod on the forehead of one Arise Ikuesan ‘m’ 45 years old, now deceased, after trying to stop the scavenger from picking iron rod in his compound.”
When the crime was reported to the police they immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect.
The suspect later confessed to committing the crime and has been charged to court for prosecution.
