The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has dismissed a recent statement by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which claimed that no patriotic Nigerian would vote for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Describing the remark as politically charged and deliberately misleading, the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, issued a strong rebuttal on Tuesday, insisting that the APC remains the party of choice for millions of Nigerians.
Oladejo maintained that the APC will enter the 2027 elections with confidence, backed by a legacy of performance and reform.
He said, “Our attention has been drawn to a politically charged and deliberately misleading press release titled ‘No Patriotic Nigerian Will Vote for APC in 2027’ from the stable of the tottering, disjointed and moribund opposition PDP.
“While such rhetoric may make headlines, it lacks both substance and objectivity. The APC categorically rejects this attempt to smear our party and misrepresent the millions of patriotic Nigerians who support us.
“As 2027 approaches, we are confident that Nigerians will judge all parties not by propaganda or emotional outbursts, but by track records, sincerity of purpose, and the capacity to lead. On all these counts, the APC will stand tall.”
The APC spokesman stressed that patriotism is not the exclusive preserve of any political party, adding that national commitment cuts across party lines.
“Patriotism is not defined by political allegiance but by an unwavering commitment to national growth, peace, unity and democratic values,” Oladejo stated.
He pointed to APC’s accomplishments in areas such as infrastructure development, digital economy growth, social investment programmes and agricultural revitalisation.
“These are achievements that most of our vocal critics cannot deny,” Oladejo said.
Responding directly to the PDP’s claim that no patriotic citizen would vote APC in 2027, Oladejo described the assertion as “deeply insulting.”
“To assert that no patriotic Nigerian would vote for APC in 2027 is not only presumptuous but deeply insulting to the intelligence of the electorate,” Oladejo said, noting that Nigerians are politically aware and capable of distinguishing between political noise and genuine leadership.
“Nigerians are discerning, and they understand that governance is a complex, evolving task, one that requires patience, vision and adaptability,” he added.
According to Oladejo, the APC continues to implement far-reaching reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, improving national security, and driving inclusive growth.
“The APC continues to provide leadership that is responsive to the challenges facing our country. Reforms are underway to further stabilise the economy, curb insecurity, and create inclusive growth,” he said.
While reiterating the APC’s openness to debate and feedback, Oladejo cautioned against what he described as an attempt by the opposition to “monopolise patriotism.”
“We welcome debate, constructive criticism, and robust engagement. What we reject is the attempt to monopolise patriotism or suggest that political allegiance is the sole test of national loyalty,” he concluded.
