2027: ‘Jonathan Is Still Our Member’ – Ologunagba Speaks On Peter Obi Returning To PDP

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba, has confirmed that former President, Goodluck Jonathan, remains a member of the opposition party.

Naija News reports that the remark comes amid speculation that the PDP might field the former Governor of Bayelsa State as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

However, Jonathan has neither confirmed nor denied his interest in contesting the forthcoming presidential election.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Ologunagba maintained that Jonathan has not resigned his membership of the PDP.

He said, “President Jonathan is still a member of this party because he has not resigned.”

The PDP publicity secretary, however, declined to comment on speculations about Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, returning to the PDP, stressing that he had not expressed any interest in joining the party.

He remarked, “Mr Peter Obi was a presidential candidate in the last election for another political party. He has not indicated interest in joining the party. So for me, it will be improper for me to begin to comment on that.”

Highlighting the party’s strength, he noted that the PDP has qualified individuals and governors who can represent Nigerians in the 2027 election.

He added, “What I can comment on is our capacity, even as we stand, that we have exceedingly qualified individuals. You mentioned Governor Makinde, of course, that’s one of our poster boys in this party in terms of performance, in terms of capacity, in terms of being able to galvanize Nigerians.

“So for us, we have in this party today various eminently qualified Nigerians and governors who are performing, and Nigeria can recognize that PDP states remain oasis of development centers in this country.”
