Former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has asserted that former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, would be considered selfish if he decided to pursue his presidential ambition in 2027.
Recall that Obi was the Labour Party (LP’s) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
However, Amadi, in the build-up before the 2027 presidential election, took to his official 𝕏 handle on Monday, implying that some people only want Obi to help them win elections.
Naija News observed that there is significant disagreement among Obi supporters regarding whether he should be the running mate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the previous candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2027 general election.
However, Amadi claimed that if Obi declines Atiku’s offer of vice president, some people might mistreat him and accuse him of being self-centred.
Amadi wrote: “The problem with @PeterObi:
“The problem with Peter Obi is that some people just want him to help them win elections. If he does not say “I will be vice president to Atiku” then he is selfish. They abuse him.
“But real supporters of Obi want him to be President. Which side u de?”
Meanwhile, Amadi had recently said that President Bola Tinubu has always found it difficult to work with deputies.
He therefore pointed out that it would not be surprising if President Tinubu decides to drop Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 election.
Amadi added that the omission of Shettima from the 2027 endorsements by the All Progressives Congress (APC) could be a pointer to the direction the party might be headed and a lesson in the harsh reality of politics.
Naija News reports that the public commentator made the submission in a chat with Arise TV on Saturday where he spoke against the backdrop of the chaos that rupted during the APC Northeast stakeholders meeting in Gombe State in which President Tinubu was endorsd for a second term in office on the party’s ticket without any mention of Shettima as his running mate.
