Former Spain midfielder, Cesc Fabregas believes that Arsenal is continuously growing and improving and has the potential to end Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League this season.
Despite City’s impressive track record of winning the Premier League title for four consecutive seasons, Fabregas is optimistic about Arsenal’s chances and thinks they could secure their first top-flight title in over two decades.
“With Man City, I just feel that it’s very, very difficult to get better than what they did with winning the treble, four times in the Premier League in a row, so I can see them only going down,” Fabregas told the Planet Premier League podcast.
“I can only see them going down or staying the same and this is the thing that makes me feel that Arsenal could potentially make it happen. I have to be honest, I said the same thing that I’m saying now last year.
“But I just see, continuously, Arsenal growing and growing and I can feel that this could be the year for them.”
Fabregas also shared his predictions for the top four finishers in the Premier League this season.
He expects Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea to secure the coveted positions.
On the other hand, former France defender, William Gallas foresees a tight battle for the final top-four spot.
He believes that Manchester City and Arsenal are likely to secure Champions League places, while Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, will also clinch a top-four finish.
Gallas thinks that Tottenham and Manchester United will fiercely compete for the remaining spot, acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding Manchester United’s performance despite their strong squad.
Gallas said: “I think it will be really competitive to finish in the top four this season.
“One thing is for sure, we know that Arsenal and Manchester City will be there, so it only leaves two places with several clubs fighting for those coveted positions.
“I think Liverpool will be in the mix. They have a new manager, but all the players understand the demands of managing both competitions.
“I would put them in the top four again for this season. I think Tottenham could be there. Manchester United could maybe be there, but I have a lot of doubts about them.”
