The lawmaker representing Kano Central senatorial district, Ibrahim Shekarau has won a return ticket on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The former governor of Kano State would be hoping to win the seat under the fast-rising party in the 2023 general election.
Shekarau won the NNPP ticket unopposed at the primaries in Gezawa, headquarters of Gezawa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State.
Recall that Shekarau dumped the All Progressives Congress after failing to clinch the ticket of the party for another term in the senate.
Abdullahi Baffa also won the NNPP ticket for Kano North, while Mr Kawu Sumaila got the ticket for Kano South.
In other news, the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Monday stated that the All Progressives Congress would not run its presidential primary the same way the Peoples Democratic Party held its primary.
There were rumours that presidential aspirants induced delegates across the country with funds to attract their votes.
The presidential aspirant while speaking on the presidential primary of the ruling party said he believes consensus-building has been part of the APC.
