Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has pledged his support to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Recall that Naija News earlier reported that the Vice President had visited the governor and other dignitaries to discuss his presidential ambition.
Welcoming Osinbajo, the governor while speaking at the Akarigbo Palace Sagamu, the Alake Palace in Abeokuta and the Presidential Lodge, Ibara, Abeokuta, as well as the Palace of Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, said that the Vice president had contributed immensely to the successes recorded by the federal government for the past seven years, adding that “he is eminently qualified to lead the country”.
According to him: “The Vice President present here is home coming. We are pleased with his decision to run for the office of the president. He is competent and committed to lead the country in a higher capacity.
“Your steadfastness, integrity and character are all well known. You are serving this country and the president meritoriously for the last seven years as the vice president. We have no doubt that you will do well as the president and we will support you.”
In his speech, Osinbajo explained that he was not in the state to campaign but to inform his people his intention to run for office.
He stated further that he consulted with all sections of the society including the president before deciding to run.
