The reported defection of former president Goodluck Jonathan from Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress on Wednesday night has stirred reactions online.
Naija News had earlier reported that sources claimed that the former president registered his membership with the ruling party at his Otuoke Ward in Bayelsa.
There are indications that Jonathan would submit his APC expression of interest and nomination on Thursday ahead of the deadline set for submission of forms.
The source further stated that the former president has also secured the support of the required number of APC delegates in the respective states.
The development has stirred reaction online with some wondering why he rejected the forms purchased for him few hours ago, only to join APC and accept the same form hours after the rejection.
Some others raised questions on how the ruling party would package Jonathan if he eventually emerge as the presidential candidate of the party, years after he was condemned by the same party.

Just to be clear, are we talking about the same “Jonathan” who rejected the presidential nomination form in the last 48 hours???

I am not surprised if Jonathan truly joined APC to contest for presidency. I knew all those politicians they supposedly bought forms for sponsored those proxies.
GEJ just want to evaporate the goodwill he gathered since the day he conceded defeat. What did he forget in Aso Rock?— Dennis O. Adesanoye (@stdennis02) May 11, 2022
It’s actually a shame, I thought he meant his words back in 2015, never knew he was afraid of Buhari

I can’t wait to hear Lai Muhammed’s new campaign slogans for him. Good for Tinubu’s camp. A yoruba nation should be the cry of the southwest. But selfish interest is Paramount.
