Buhari Patriotic Support Organization of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged their allegiance to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Jigawa State.
Representing members of the party in a conversation with newsmen on Saturday, March 19, Adamu Sankara said the Buhari loyalists had dumped the APC due to false promises and failure to bring positive change to the country.
Naija News understands that political group has always worked for President Muhammadu Buhari from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to the ruling APC.
They, however, declared their support to the NNPP after the party’s local government congress in Ringim.
Sankara had told newsmen that the organization and its structures from the ward, local government and state levels have decided to join the NNPP for a better Nigeria.
After giving a warm welcome to the new defectors, the leader of the NNPP in Jigawa State and two-term gubernatorial candidate, Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim said the executives were elected based on consensus across the 27 local governments.
He explained that 37 executives were elected from each of the 27 local governments of the state.
Ringim, therefore, charged the new executives to work hard for the victory of the party in the coming 2023 general election, Naija News reports.
Meanwhile, former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar is set to officially join the race for the 2023 presidency, Naija News reports.
A statement on Friday by the chairman of the technical committee of his campaign group, Chief Raymond Dokpesi said Atiku will declare officially on Wednesday 23rd March 2022.
It added that the declaration will be done at the International Conference Centre, Abuja at 11 am.
Atiku who was the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to seek the ticket of the PDP again for the 2023 presidency.
It will be recalled that he has already received the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination and expression of interest form for the 2023 general elections.
The Presidential hopeful has presented the form on Thursday, March 17, 2022, by the North East Business Forum, the group responsible for the purchase of the interest form.
