20-Year-Old Man Nabbed Vandalising Electricity Transformer In Katsina

One Muntari Ali, an indigene of Nasarawa State is on the verge of facing the wrath of the law for allegedly vandalizing an electricity power transformer in Katsina State.

Naija News understands that the 20-year-old criminal suspect was caught in the act by men of the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

A statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the security agency has it that Ali was arrested at Barakai village in Kafur Local government area of the state where while he was carrying out the criminal act.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSC Mohammed Tukur Abdara, while giving details of the operation that led to the arrest of the individual on behalf of the State Commandant, Mohammed Sanusi Bello psc+, disclosed that Ali was arrested by one of the command’s routine patrol teams manning the area.

DSC Abdara, in the statement, said: “The suspect was arrested when our patrol team sighted him inside the transformer building trying to vandalize the transformer located at Barakai village of Kafur Local government.

“Before he was arrested, he had already drained all the oil in the transformer, worth hundreds of thousands naira,”

Abdara explained further that the suspect has admitted to committing the crime, and hence would be charged to court in due course to answer for his crime.

In the statement, the state’s NSCDC Commandant used the opportunity to appeal to “members of the general public to assist security agencies with accurate and prompt information on suspicious individuals and their activities to effectively tackle the security challenges facing the state.”
